BANK OF NEW ZEALAND,

RAILWAY REVENUE RETURNS. The total revenue derived irom the New Zealand Government railways (including the Lake Wakatipu steamers) for the four weeks ended March 3 was £203,033. and the espendifurc for the same period was £13G.fi0S. The revenue from the South Island lines was £100,3(56. and the expenditure £7G,12G, the Hnnmiii-Bliifi section producing an income of £11,013 for an outlay of IGS.GCO. The Wcstlawl section produced £775G in revenue, the expenditure being £4539. and tlio Westport section yielded £5984 (or an outlay of £3119. The receipts on the Nelson and 'Picton sections were .C.1844 and £2087 respectively, while the cost of maintaining the traffic'on the former section was £1:197 and on the latter £100.1. The Lake Wakatipu steamers produced an income of £677. the expenditure being £345. The total revenue derived from the liies in the North Island was £93.G?G. while the expenditure was £60,631.
