THE PRESBYTERIAN OFFICEBEARERS' ASSOCIATION.
The animal westing of the Dunedin and Suburban Presbyterian Office-bearers' Association was held in one of the apartments of Knox Church Sunday School Hal! on the 90! h. There ware 13 or 10 members Present, and Mr Vim. Henderson, <1/ Mornington (president), cciinpiotl tho chair. A letter from Jir Colin Taylor, resigning, his poailiali as a marnber o[ the association, and another from Mrs 'Bayloy, acknowledging receipt of it letter ot sympathy in it family hermtme.it, wore received. On the motion of Jir ]'. Fleming. seconded by Mr T. Iss»g, t!s<? annua! report (published) aud baliiico 'sheet were adopted without comment or discussion. was nominated as ono of the vicc-prcsidents, anil both be and Mr Chiabolm desired to retire in favour ot each other, Mr Pryor filially retiring. Mr ChiShoim, oil Mr Barclay being appointed secretary, moved that a hearty vote of thanks'be accorded tlio Into secretary, ilr W. Pryor, for his efforts in the best interests of the association in the past, and that t-h# motion bo minuted. Tho mover said everyone was aware of the energy Mr Pryor bad thrown into the work of (lie association. Ho did not hesitate to say the success of tlio association, to u great extent, had been the result of Mv Poor's effotia. Mr Duncan Wright paid Mr Chisholra iiaci forestalled bim. Ho was going io move that tbe special thanks of the association be accorded to Mt Pryor, who bad, by his energy, earnestness, and enthusiasm, been the very heart and sou! of the. association since its formation. To him Mho association was nnder a lasting debt ot gratitude. He (Mr Wright) seconded Mr Chisholm's motion, which was carried amid applause. Mr lieid and Mr Pryor returned thanks, (lie first for b;ing elected president and ths eocond for the vote of thanks. Mr Watson also returned thanks for being elected to tlio ofltco of treasurer. On the motion of Mr Pryor a vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring president for the manner in which ho had discharged his duties, Mr Henderson acknowledging (he vote.
A social gathering was aftewardn held in the Stuart Hall, at the rear of tbe School Hall, the proceedings being opened with a well-played pianoforte solo by Mr 11. Macfie. Mr Win. Henderson, the retiring president, a few remarks, and was followed by Jlr Geo. Reitl. wlid had been elected president at- tbo business meeting just held. A solo having been sung by Miss J?utc, the R;y. J. Chisholm delivered a short eddress on tbe aims and needs of the association, and items were *iven by Mrs F. Arthur, Mis? .Vordin, and Mr W. Todd. The remaining speaker was Mr A. C. Begs, who shoitly those present. The accompanist to tbe singers was Mr It. Macfie.
