A GOLDEN WEDDING.

There, was a unique and happy gathering on Monday afternoon, 12th, at "Ngutukaka," Port Chalmers, tho homo of Mr and Mrs J. It. Monson, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding day. Tho company comprised Mr and Mrs Monson, Miss Monson, Miss Alice Monson, Mr Charles Monson (Roxburgh), Mr and Mib Fred Monson (Mornington) with their family, the Misses Myrtle and Constance aud Master Harold, Mr and Mrs Robert Monson tOaraaru) with their family. Miss Irene and Mi, Bernard, Mr aiid Mrs George Monson (Burnsido) with their family, Miss Olive and Masters George and Xigel; indeed, every member of the family was present with the exception of Miss E. Monson, who ifl residing in Sydney. In addition, the following friends wore present:— Mosdames Tayler, MalIcrd, Basire, Duke, Ward, Mr C. Duke,.and the Rev. 0. 'Ward. A short thanksgiving service was held in the drawing-room, conducted by Mr Ward. At thi3 ; the marriage hymn was sung, led by Miss Myrtle, Miss Constance presiding at the piano. Afterwards refreshments were served, amidst the recital of many pleasant experiences, as 14 years have elapsed sinco the last family reunion. A photograph was taken by Mr Fred of Mr and Mrs Monson, with Mrs John Taylor, who. as Miss J. Caioy t was Mis Monson's* bridesmaid 50 years, ago. During tho aftcrnton the original marriage register, containing the entry of tho marriage, and a piece ot tho bridal veil worn by Mis Monson were shown, aud excited much interest. A number of valuable presents were made to the honouied cduplo by members of the family and friends. These were exhibited, also some of the presents made to them 60 ycais ago. It was a. bright gathering, unaffected by ill© heavy rain that fell during the aiternoon, u& will bo a, rich memorv to all privileged to be present. Mr ard Mis Monson are going down the bill of life in sunshine, with the respect and lovo of all who know them. Few have been more favoured th&n they, and few more worthy.
