An old and much respected resident of Port Chalmers passed to her rest on March' 14 in tho person of Mrs Margaret Scott Crawford. Our Clyde correspondent reports:—"On it becoming known that Constable M'Quarrie was about to be transferred from Clyde to Port Chalmers •much surprise wan expressed at the suddenness of such a decision, A number of residents have decided to forward to Commissioner Dinnie a requisition asking him to reconsider his action, or, failing that, to promote Constable M'Quarrie to the charge of a station. The people here are surprised a-t the department's intention to transfer Constable M'Quarrie to Port Chalmers, whence he came here some three years ago.
