(Received Feb. 15, at 0.50 a.m.) At the inquest concerning the Newtown tragedy, a witness stated that he knew Toomy, tho kanaka murderer, for 15 years. Ho « ti sober, quiet man. About a. month ago Toomy showed him a letter which ho had prepared, claiming £145 from the Femvicks. lie told witness ho bad lent Fcnwick £100 in cash at Richmond River. Femvick, in his evidence, denied that ho owned Toomy any money.
