BOWLING.

NEW ZEALAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION. _ The executive of the New Zealand Bowling Association met yesterday afternoon in Mr R. T. Wheeler's office for the purpose of disc-tiding and deciding upon arrangements for tho approaching bowling tournament. The president (Mr C. J. Payne) presided, and the members present were: Messrs M. Sinclair, P. Miller, J. A. Hopcraft, Captain Sundshum, and K. T. Wheeler (secretary). _ The Luncheon Committee reported upon tho number /or whom luncheon would probably be required, tho estimated cost, eto., and suggested that to meet the expenditure under this' , head four of the local clubs should be levied upon for £2 10s each, four others for £l 10s each, and four others £1 each, and that tho difference, it any, lie made up from th» association's fund's — After consideration it was decided that only players outside the infor-elub area should bo regarded as visitors who were entitled lo complimentary tickets for luncheon, and tho 'Luncheon Committee's report and recommendation were then adopted. Tho Programme Committee reported that the programme for the tournament—commencing on January 22—had been drafted, a.nd that it was in the hands of tho printers, and that copies would be available! on tho following day. An advance copy of the programme was submitted to the meeting, and it contained the following, anions other items of interest :—

Champion Rink Tournament. Open lo all clubs affiliated to an association. Entries close and ties drawn at 8.30 p.m. on January 20. Fir=t iromid starts at 8.30 a.m. January 'ii. In addition to first, second, and third trophy prizes, sectional prizes have been provided for .any club which wins its seolion but not .1 prize. An aggregate prize is also provided for the chib rink scoring the highest aggregate number of points in fee first six game-? of tho Champion Rink Tournament, exclusive of prize winners.

Douhle-handc'd Champion Bowling Tournament. Entries close anil , ties drawn ot 8.30 p.m. January 22. First round to start on January 23 at 1.30 p.m., Tournament Committee to arrange time and place. Single-handed Champion Bowling Tournament. Entries close and tie? drawn at 8.30 p.m. January 21. Games to start as Tournament Committee decide.

Agricultural Hall building.?, oacl> evening at 8.30 commencing on Saturday, January 20. i'ho times for the games were arranged as follows: Rin'ks, from Monday, 8.30' a.m., to Tuesday, 1 p.m. (six games); doubles, from Tuesday, 1.30 p.m. to Wednesday evening; tingles, Thursday; uncompleted games and finals, Friday. The executive reserves the right to at any time, on sufficient entries to accommodate the various greens being received, cloeo the list. With respect to the aggregate trophies in the rink tournament it had been'decided that in the event of a rink failing to play in 'its match, thereby giving its opponents a bye, then the rink receiving a bye shou'd be entitled to add to its score, after thecompletion of the six games, a proper aggregate proportion of points to be decided by executive.—The report of the Programme Committee, as submitted, was approved. The constitution a,nd rules of the North / Canterbury Bowling Centre were received, 'read, and .unanimously approved, general satisfaction being expressed at the spirit in which they had been drafted.
