Another successful -fortnightly' meeting ivas held nt tho Friendly Societies' Hall, Soutli'Dnnedin, on lfrjdny evening by the friends and 6upportors, of Air Earnsliaw. Very" encouraging reports wero made. After tho usual routine, business. was done Mr Earnshaw gavo |n address npon "The Basio Problem o£> Labour," in which a number of questions was fully dealt with, such as co-o'perativo' works," tho unemployed and construction of the ,viaduct, Socialism, 16aso in perpetuity versus freehold, and Mr Earnshaw's definito position between political parties. A ltim'bor of new 'supporters was added to tho-roll. Mr M'Moeking moved a voto o£ tJinnks, and stated that after hearing Mr Earnshaw's several able addresses he-felt convinoed that the lecturer had a master grasp of tho problems affecting labour and our social structure, and that it would bo to tho best interest of the working men of tho district that ho should lie selected to .represent thorn in Parliament. Mr Firkin econded, and aftc. tho usual voto of thanks to tho chair tho meeting closed, it being announced that Mr Earnshaw would givo another address next i'liureday wfcck,
The Oamaru Mail states that Mr A. Walker, of Waimate, has definitely decided to contost tho Waitaki scat.
