Mr Seddon .agreed that a comprehensive sob&me was necoisary,,but tho question was whethor tho interests involved wore commensurate with tho oost of forming a permiLnont ..outlet-'; A. act of Parliament would require to bo-passed before portion of the accrued rents could be devoted to tho purpose. A Government engineer had estimated that' the cost of an outlet would be £8400, which probably, meant that the final cost would bo nearer £10,000. He would look into tho whole matter. In reply to a request for ft school at Upper Riccarton, Mr Seddon'said'if h« were'satisfied from the report to be supplied by an inspector that the school \vas . necessary ho would recommend Parliament to mako an allocation (rom the special vote for which Parliament would be asked next session. One of tho deputation which waited on the Premier to-day regarding the flooding of Lake Ellosmore lands asked Mr Seddon whether thorc w»3 any probability of..a revaluation of tho !ease-in-porpetuity holdings in the Lake KUesmore district. Mr Seddon said he could toll him this much: that a contract once made , with the Government was saored as' far as lie "was conoerned. " Don't you lose • any sleep over tho matter," ho added. (
