WANGANUI, May 19., An inquest was commenced to day on the body of a man named Nathaniel Ross, aged 65, who died shortly after his admission to the hospital on Thursday. The evidence of two witnesses was taken, after which an adjournment was made till lionday. The evidence given'was to the cffcct that the man, who was in very veal; health, left Pipiriki by steamer, intending, to ' medical advioe in "Wanganui. Ho was sober when he loft Pipiriki, but it is alleged that he collapsed through drink during the • voyage, and was allowed to remain exposed to the weather till the vessel arrived, when ho was taken in an unconscious condition to the hospital, where he died. Tho evideneo of the crow and the medical men has vet to be taken. CHRISTCHURCH, May 19. A woman named Jane Anderson, aged 79, died suddenly from heart disease. Patrick Dillon, a destitute man, died suddenly at Kirwee yesterday.
