Miss Nellie Stewart unci the members of Mnsgrovo's ISiiglish Dramatic Company received an enthusiastic send-off at the Princess Theatre Inst evening on the occasion of tho final appearance of the company. The theatre was crowded in every part to witness tho performance of " Old Heidelberg," the play which had been specially revived for the last night of the season. As the charming drama unfolded itself the audience was roused to a high pitch of enthusiasm, Miss Nellie Stewart and the other principals of tho company being recalled at the conclusion of each act. At the termination of the performance the curtain had to he raised again and again in response to tho demands of the audience, which greeted Miss Slew-art with c, perfect ovation. Occasion was taken during the evening to present every lady in tho theatre- with a handsome souvenir of ALiss Nellie Stewart. Mr George Musgrove, who arrived from Melbourne yesterday by the Winimera, was present to witness the final performance given by his company in Dunedin. Tho company leaves by the first express tr'!;'.'. morning for Tintaru. ALHAMBRA THEATRE. Another splendd house witnessed the performance at the Alhambra Theatre last evening, and. tho programme was accorded the usual flattering reception. Fred Bivenhall scored another huge success with his budget of comio songs, and throughout his "turn" had tho tuidicnce .fairly convulsed. The remaining artists were also very entertaining, and the programme provided by them was one full ol variety. There will he a repetition of the samp bill this evening.
"A THIP TO THE SUN." The above is tho somewhat astonishing title of a series of new cinematograph scenes that, will be presented at the opening performance ol West's Pictures ami the lirescians' Orchestra and Singers nt His Majesty's Theatre on Monday next, which, under tho subsidiary title of" Whirling the "Worlds," has recently caused quite a sensation at the Alhambra Theatre, Lon'.bn. It is described as the most sensational and fantastic picture ever conceivcd, and *,vhs inventtd and arranged by Mons. Goorge Meliee, inventor of the "Trip to the Moon.' The r.cw picture presents an extraordinary voyage by 14 members of the Eccentric Club, who utilise the most modern conveyance—viz., steim origine, automobile, airship, and submarine—in exploring the universe and celestial spheres, and in its flights pf imagination is far and away ahead of tho wildest conceptions even of Jules Verne. It consists of 35 remarkable scenes, is printed on over a quarter of a mile of film, numbers over 15,000 distinct photographs, and occupies over 20 projection. Mr Vtest has had the entire' subject coloured by lmnd by Parisian artists—s work which took upwards of six weeks to complete,—and it is said to bo tho first example of hand-coloured cincmatograuhy ever brought to New Zealand. The entire West and Brescian programme bristles with novelties, ancJ it is most likely this new company will receivo an enthusiastic welcome at its opening per. foimance.
