PICNIC AND SPORTS.
TAIERI AND PENINSULA MILK SUPPLY COMPANY.
The Otokia branch of the T&ieri and Pciiin* sub, Milk Supply Company held 'its united picnic on the grounds of Mr James B. Reid, of Otokia. The day was perfect, and consequently a large number of peoplo assembled to witness the progT&uimo o! sports, which was gone through without a hitch. The following gentlemen were on the committee :— Messrs A. Fleming, ]?•. Baird, J. Shoro, J. Stevenson, W. C. Palmer, J. B. Ecid, R. Liwerty, J. Black, D. Sinclair, W. Flett, and W. Bryant. The.judges were E. Laverty and J. Black, and the other officials were:— Starter, W. Bryant; handicapper, AV. Flett; lion, secretary and treasurer, D. Sinclair. Luncheon was provided by the confmittce and suppliers, end everything passed.off very successfully. The following are the results of tho events:—
lOOyda Race.—A. P. Fleming 1, T. Blair 2, E. Elwell 3. Ten others started.
Young Ladies' Race.—Miss H. Blair 1, Miss J{. Blair 2, Miss Kiley 3. Three others started.
High Jump.— J. Hoddinott 1, J. Kenny 2, W. Overton-3. Two others competed.
Vaulting.—W. Wellmau 1, D. Sinclair 2, J. Taylor 3. Four ofiers competed. Young Ladies' Race.—Miss L. Shoro 1, Miss M. Shoro 2, Miss Kiley 3. Threo othors started.
Polo.-D. Sinclair 1, E. Lavcrty 2, W. Flett 3. Five others competed. High Jump for Horses.—Hoddinott 1, J. Taylor and G. Mawds-ley (dead heat) 2. Two others competed. Half-mile Handicap ftace.— J. Brown, 45yds, 1; T. B. Christie, 25yds, 2; W. Mawdsley, 30yds, 3. Five others started. Greasy Pig Race.—W. Mawdsley 1. Seven others started.
