AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

OTAGO CENTRE, N.Z.A.A.A. A meeting of tho Otago Centre, held in the Waratah Tea Rooms last evening, was attended by Messrs W. Lang (president, in tho chair). A. Marryatt and R. W. Brickell (vice-, presidents), G. Moreton (Y.M.C.A.), R. J. Morrin and W. J. O'Kane (North Otago), R. G. Anderson (Gore), W. T. Parata, (Civil Service), R. J. Jackson and M. Shand (Dunedin Harriet), A, Hoare (D.A.A.C), and H. Mackintosh (Civil Sorvico, lion, secretary).' The Diinedin .Cycling Club was granted a permit to run amateur events at its meeting on the 18th, and Messrs Lang (president) ■ and Mackintosh (secretary) were appointed as the centre's representatives at tho meeting.

A letter was received from tho secretary of the N.Z.A.A.A. with Tcgard to the inclusion of the Australians in the team of visiting athletes, and the following motion was carried:—"That this centre is unable to agree to share the expenses of Australian runners."

The secretary was instructed to write asking an urgent reply regarding Shrubb and Dnffey's itinorary (date of arrival at tlto Bluff, whether coining to Dtmedin overland, etc.), also what arrangements are suggested re hotel accommodation, training, etc. It was unanimously resolved that Mr M'Donald lie asked to act as the centre's handicapper and starter for the current year. The secretary was instructed to write io the council asking the Australian A.A. Union's definition re trophies and open orders; also the New Zealand Council's decision re trade picnic sports.
