VICTORIA JUBILEE CONVALESCENT FUND.
Tho annual meeting of the _ Victoria Jubilee Convalescent Fund Committee was held at tho Town Hall on November 11, and attended by Mesdamcs Batchelor (in the chair), Israel, Bege. Jlackerras, Ramsay, Johnston, Brown, and Phillips, and Miss Hutchison.
On tlm motion of the President (Mrs Batehclor), seconded by Mrs Iveith Ramsay, tho annual report, which contained the following clauses, was .adopted : — The committee hits again pleasure in submitting tho report (the seventeenth) tor the year ended 31st October, -1904. During the year somo 30 patients have been sent to our Homo at Palmcrslon for two, three, and in souio special discs four weeks' holiday. Many have written gratefully of the rest and benefit received when under tho good care of our matron, Mrs Young, who is still in chargo. Patients who have friends at a distance to visit, lmt lack the means to do so, have from time to time applied to the fund for the necessary travelling expenses, and ill j:o instance has this concession been refused, oath applicant being, of course, well recommended. Some months ago a cheque .of £50 was received from tho manager of the Perpetual Trustees, Estate, and Agency Company, being part of a sum donated under the will of the late Mrs Clark for distribution amongst various charities at the discretion of the company, and a further bequest of £200 under the will of the late Mrs Lothian was also received. From the liuancial statement herewith it will ho seen that the fund still holds Government debentures of tho value of £700, and it is nenv proposed to invest a further sum of £250 (amount received from bequests during the year) in fliuilar securities.
