MINISTERS ON HOLIDAY.

About 50 members of the Dunedin Presbytery arid friends of the Revs. W. Howit6on and A. Cameron, who are about to talto an extended trip, met iu the Colton Private Hotel on November 1 to wish them farewell. An excellent luncheon was provided by Mr Lean, with whose catering no fault could bo found by the Presbytery, under tho auspices of which the farewell was given. Apologies for absence were forwarded by the Revs. Tennant, Fairmaid, 3d' Coll. liorrie, Dr Nicholson, Messrs Mac* ken-as and Fitzgerald. At tho conclusion of the luncheon a number of complimentary farewell speeches wore delivered. The Rev. J. Chisholm, Moderator of the Presbytery, who presided, referred to the amount of labour Mr Hewitsnn had put into foreign mission work, which he *aid hud been done in a niost effective way. They had all admired the methodical manner i|> which Mr Hewitson had carried this work out. Then, looking at the other

side of tho Church's work, they knew what had been dono in connection with the eduoation of its ministry through the instrumentality of tho Rev. A. Cameron. Mr Cameron had been quite enthusiastio in educational matters, and they were all awaro of the position lie had occupied in connection with the college. These two brethren had been most loyal sons of their Church, and had been-most earnest in upholding its traditions. Ho was sure they wore all glad these two gentlemen were going to have a good holiday, and did not grudge them it. As a Presbytery, they hoped to hear of theso brethren as they wefi journeying to and fro. They would p'fay for them in their absence, look forward with interest to their return, nncl give them a h-earty welcome when they came back. Tho Revs.. Dr Walt, Dr Waddell, Dr Dunlop, M'Cosli Smith, R. R. M. Sutherland, Kinmont, A. Don, and Mr A. C. Begg also spoke, eulogising tho services of both Mr Hewitson and Mr Cameron, and those gentlemen made suitablo replies. The Rev?. \V. Hewitson and A.
