Bowlers assembled in strong force on the Groen Islaud Bowling Club's Green on Saturday, the day fixed for the first match to 1» played by the City Clubs against tho Ohtbs in 't'aieri 'County, but shortly after the game had commenced play had to be discontinued on account of the steady descent of rain. The country teams played » sound gnnn>, and at the eleventh head, 011 the completion of winch play caused, were only u, dozen points behind the strong city combination. At the carnival in the evening Mr Mark Sinclair congratulated the Green Island 'Club on tlin fine order in which the green was this season. He considered it one of tho'best in the district. The match will in all probability be finished ion one of tho oily gre-ena on a dato to be fixed.
