SOUTH CANTERBURY'v. NORTH OTAGO. (Per United Press Association.) OAMARU, September 15, The football match North Otago v. South Canterbury was played to-day in fine weather and before a large number of spectators. The game was accounted lather slow. In the first, spell Toohey (Oamaru) Ecored a try which was not enhanced. Later on Toohey repeated his previous performance, bub the score was again not increased. The first spell emk'd with North Otago 6 ami South Canterbury nil. 11l tlio second spell 'one of the North Otago players pulled down an opprnent who waa at the moment not in possession of tlio hail, and the referee promptly awarded South Canterbury a try, from which Boys landed a neat goal. In the subsequent play Doyle secured a try, but the score was not enhanced. Thore wits no further scoring, and the game ended—South Canterbury 8, North Otago 6. Of tlio two teams, North Otago played rather the better game. Tlio Waßgamii representative team returned ftom Invercargill by tlio express yesterday evening. A drag in veyed them to the Coffee Palace, their headquarter _ during their stay in Dunedin. The visitors will have n practice today, and on Saturday will meet the Otago representative team. Wanganui introduced a. variety in tlio arrangement of their backs at 'invereargill, playing only one five-eighth and two forwards. The wingers dropped back for tho passing rushes. "
