Bv Spinnaker. Tho smart littlo oil launch Standard, owned by a gentleman in Auckland, lias, I understand, liecn purchased by a gentleman in Dunedin, and will shortly ho seen in these, waters. Messrs Logan Bros., of Auckland, are building a 27ft pleasure yacht for an enthusiast in Dunedin. The boat will be ready for launching in threo weeks' time. According to tho Now York Sun, Sir Thomas Upton lias commissioned Mr William Fife and Mr (i. L. Watson, tho wellknown yacht designers, to design a challenger for the famous America Clip, to hi raced for next year. Tho New _ York Sun further states Ilia* both countries intend building truo yachts for this race, and not racing machines.
