(Limited) report as follows:—Wo held our usual fortr.ightly salo of hides at our stores, Vogel street, on Thursday, June 2, when wo submitted a fairly large catalogue to a. gojd representative gathering of the trade. Our catalogue did not include nny extra, stout sorts, but consisted chielly of country butchers' hides of medium and light-weights, and we, cleared Ihe lot at prices fully on a par with those obtained at our last snle n fortnight ago. Bidding throughout was keen, although buyers did not seem inclined to go past their limit, hut light hides ot both sorts were again eagerly competed tor, and sold up to 4fjcl. Agency Company (Limited) report having held' their usual fortnightly sale by auction at their stores, Lower Eattray street, on , Thursday, June 2, when there was a full attendance oE buyers, who competed freely for all offered. Light and medium-weights had the most attention, and brought pricos relatively Irigher than those obtaining for heavy sorts. There ic little or no change to noto ill prices obtained to-day compared with, thoso ruling, at our last sale. Messrs Stronach, Morris, and Co. report having held their fortnightly sale of hides at their stores, Crawford street, on Thursday. 2nd inst,, when they submitted a catalogue of 290 to a representative nttendniice of buyers. Competition wa3 gocd, and 1 they had a most satisfactory sale. They were' fortunate in obtaining top prices for both ox nnd cow hides—in fact, the prices for two of the former were f<l per 11) over those bid at any clhi-r sale. It must lie remembered, however, that these hides were exceptionally prime, and all round the catalogue was a very good one. '['heir top price in ox hides was Gtd, at which figure they sold two lot 3 averaging 931b and 3311), and also ono weighing 7.21b at OJd. In cow hides they sold cne weighing 60!b nl 4jd, and two lots of 051b and 601b at 4?d. The top prices in money value was—for ox £i 8s 2d, and for cow £1 4b 2d. The actual prices paid at their sale were as follows: Prime stout ox hides, OJd to Ckd; medium to good do, 4Jd to sid; light and inferior do, 3d to 4Jd; prime cow hides, 43d to 4Jd; medium to good do, -lgcl to'43d; light and inferior do, 4Jd to 4Jd per Ib; horse hides, Gβ 3d to Sis 9d; yearlings, 8s Gd; calfskins, Is 3d to 3s 5d each. . Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. report having held their usual fortnightly sale of hides at their stores, Bond and Jelly struts, on Thursday, 3 line 2. Competition was very keen for nil classes of ox and cow hides Hint were' jn good order and condition. Prices obtained at yesterday's sale were fully on a par with those obtained a fortnight a»o, mid there is every piospect of the market remaining firm, as shippers and manufacturers are eager to obtain hides. We quote: Prime ox up to to GJd; heavy do, 5d to &* a d; light to medium, 4sd to sd; cows, heavy, 4jd to sd; medium,-4Jd to 4id; lisrht, BJd to 4Jd per lb; calfskins, Is 9d to 2s Gd; horse, hides, 7s to 8s each; yearlings, 4s 6d to 5s each. Messrs Dalgety and Co (Limited) report having held their fortnightly sale of hides en Thursday, June 2, when thev-offered 440, consisting of 267 ox and 173 cow hides. . Their catalogue included several lots of abattoir hides of really excellent quality, while the balance 'were comprised of medium to good hides from country butchers and others. Competition, taken! all round, was not up to that of last sale, more particularly for good to best ox hides, which were from ?,d to Jd lower, while medium-weights suffered, but to n smaller extent. Light.ox and cows, on the other hand, wero ogain in request, and realised prices on ■a par with those "ruling n fortnight ago. The highest price obtained was GJd per ib for several lines of stout ox hides in splendid condition, but the ruling price of this class of ordinary quality and condition was s)d to sgd per lb. For cow hides the top price was JJd, but the great majority of this class brought 4Jd to 4Jd, according to condition. Messrs Wright, Slophenson, and Co. report as follows: We held our fortnightly bide sale in our Maclagg&n street stores on Wednesday, Ist inst., when we offered iv catalogue of .123 hides, comprising 191 o>: hides, 124 cow hides, 11 calfskins, and three yenrings. There was a ldrgo muster of buyers, and prices on tbe whole ruled much oil a par with later rates. Light hides nro still in request, and sell relatively dearest.
