DRUIDISM.
■ The Otago Lodge of Druids held a meeting iu tho Oddfellows' Hall, Kattray street, on Wednesday evening. Arch Druid Bro!' Dovo presided. After routine business had been disposed of, the Arch Druid announced that, in addition to tho handsome present of a valuable oil painting by Bro. Bartlett, to be awarded to the member bringing the most new memheis into tho lodge, he had been instructed .by another brother to stato that a second prizo of a, gold medal, valued at Ms, would also be forthcoming. . The contest stated on May 18, and will finish on December 28, both dates inclusive. A large and representative number of nienibm of tho Duntroon Lodge, TJ.A'.O.D., who were down in Duncdiu for the sht,w. week, paid a visit. Tho visiting brethren were cordially greeted by the members of tho Otago Lodge. Bro. Kellet having announced that, owing to unfoKaen circumstances, the West Harbour Lodgo could not send a team for the card tonnmmcht arranged for that evening, the members of the Duntroon Lodge signified their willingness to step into the breach. It , was decided to play 23 games oi crib rod euchre, and a most exciting contest resulted. Each ludge had won 11 gantes, and the final game (euchre) aroused intense interest. Both sides notched nine points, and the last trick of the next deal .gavo the victory to the Otago Lodgo by tho narrowest of margins. P.D.P. Bro. Dixon proposed tho toast of " Tho , 'Country and the West Hnrbour Lodges." He said that the nsscmblnge .there that evening l of the country -visitors was somewhat of the nature of <i surprise Visit. That it was a pleasant surprise was uudoubted. Ho trusted that next show. (ime tho Duntroon Lodgo would once more be their guests. Anything that tho members of tho Otago Lodge could do to make- their trip to town a pleasant one would speedily bo performed. The toast was drunk with musical honours. Bro. Kellott, in responding to tho toast, thanked the members of the Otago Lodge !or tho entertainment provided..that evening. Ho could only echo the sentiment? expressed by Bro. Dixon as to tho desjrabilit] of a reunion next show. time. A short interval' elapsed, during which light refreshments wer< handed round. Bro. Dixon sang "The skipper's flag " in excellent style. Bro. Floyd was heard to advantage in " The last song," Bro. Holt sang "The Garonne," and Bro. Vivian gavo a good rendering of Sinis's pathetio story "Christmas Diiy in iv Workhouse."' Bro. Bryant's " Mrs Mulligan's twins " (comic) was very woU received. Bro. Best gave a further exhibition of his quality in "The Adelaide Bushmen's Corps." This concluded a. very pleasant evening's entertainment, ;nd the lodge was duly closed.
