at our stores. Crawford street, on Thursday, sth inst., when we submitted a catalogue of 252 to a largo attendance of buyers. Tho competition from all sources was very keen, and the result was most gratifying; in fact, it was much the best sale wo have had for some months. The greatest rise ivas experienced in medium-weight hides, and these were fully jtl per II) higher than last sale. This is rooet satisfactory, as it is to this class that the bulk of consignments belong, and a rise such as experienced on Thursday means a big item to oni clients. As showing the demand, we may mention that only 24 hides in the whole of our catalogue -realised less than 4d per lb. Our highest, prices for ox hides were 7Jd for 70's and 7£d for GS's, many other lots realising 6:1 to 7d. We have said that the above were the highest prices, but we really think that the best price obtained by us on Thursday was 4?. d for n. line weighing only 441b. In cow hides our highest price was o'.d for one lot, several lots bringing s}d, ard s£d. We enn confidently recommend vendors to forward their consignments to us at present, as the returns are certain to prove satisfactory, and no one can say how long present values will last. Aotiial priccs obtained by us on Thursday were as follows:—Prime stout ox hiles, Gld to 7Jd per lb; medium to good, 5d to GJd; fight and inferior, 3Jd to <Ud; prime heavy cow hides, 5d to BJd; medium to good, 4Jd to 4;d; light and inferior, 3Jd to id; yearlings, 2s 5d to 'Is 9d each; calfskins, Is 3d to 3s. <!> INVESTMENT STOCKS.
