NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The Canterbury and Wellington men t< compete in tho championship meeting or Saturday arrived by tho express last evening, Dr Roberts (president of the New ZeaJanc Amateur Athletic Association), Mr W, L. Hooper (president of the local centre), any a large number of local athletes met ant welcomed them,' and saw them to the Coffee Palace, where the majority of them ar( staying during their visit. Among the visitors are Mr Anderson (vice-president ol the N.Z.A.A.A.) and Mr A. L, Styche (hon secretary). Mr J. E. Green (secretary o tho Pioneer Club) is in charge of the team This morning at 11 o'clock at the Town Hal his Worship the Mayor will welcome then to Dunedin, and the local centre entertains them on Saturday night and Sunday. This shows, in summary, that Canterbury has fivo wins, Auckland five, Otago one, and Wollington one. On carefully going through tho list of entries for to-inorrow, it is thought Otago will be ablo to pull off the coveted honour this year, with Canterbury close up.
