Ideal weaflie. prevailed for the Wanganui Jockey Club's autumn carnival. The attendance was the largest for many years, and it is estimated 4500 were present. Advance was made a strong favourite for the Cup, but found the crushing impost too heavy, though going strongly two furlongs from home, and finished fifth. Orloff would probably have won had he boon differently ridden. The time for the Clip is a record ' for the colony. In the Hack Hurdles Urukihika and Recoil fell, the former breaking his leg, and had to be shot. Westguard won tho Flying with the greatest of ease.
