POST OFFICE PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS.
(FIIOII OUB Ow.Y OoiitIESPONDEHI.) WELLINGTON, March 1. A number of promotions nnd transfers in tho postal service of the colony which have boon pending for some time are now announced. Tho vacant chief postmastership at Wanganui has, been filled by Air D. Miller, formerly assistant inspector of post offices, who will ho replaced by the promotion of Mr T. Curtis, postmaster nt Lyttcltcn. The vacancy in tho Lyttelton office will bo filled by Air Wylie, postmaster at Opotiki, whoso plaoo will be taken by Air Day, of Auckland. Mr J. M'Kenzio, senior cicrk in the New Plymouth ofliee, has retired owing to i!l-!ieal(h, and the vacancy will he filled by the promotion of slr Giiler, senior money order and savings bank clerk at Invorcargill. Mr Egginton, of tho Thames office, is to ho promoted to the postmastership at Alexandra South, and Mr Cahill, .postmaster at Havoloek. is to be promoted to tlic pcatm&stership at Riverton, and will ba replaced by Mr ITnlc, telegraphist of the Blonhoim staff. Tho chief poetmtister at West port (Mr T. King) is to be promoted to the position of assistant inspector of post offices for tho southern district, vica Mr Tipping- promoted to the chief postmastership of Invercargill. Mr King will bo replaced by the promotion of Mr 0. Logic, postmaster at Feilding. Mr .Tack-son, mail oleifc in the Ohrifltclinrch office, has boon promoted to bo senior mail clerk at Wanganui.
