WAITAHUM HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The ■ annual autumn ' show under the auspices of tho Waitahuna Horticultural' Society was held in tho Good Templars' Hall, Waitahuna, on Wednesday. Pine sunny weather for the past few weeks favoured tho growth of flowers, and tho blooms exhibited on Wednesday were of % very superior quality. The class for gladioli was well represented, and some good spikes were shown. Mr G. Boss was first with one and three, and Mi J. H. Patrick with six. Some very fine roses were shown, but for this class the entries were not numerous. The dahlias were good, but owing to the lateness of the season some of the schedule numbers were left unrepresented. For the same roasou the entries in asters, which were a strong feature in last year's show, were few. Very artistic work was displayed by the young ladies in the dress bouquets, gentlemen's buttonholes, hand and shower bouquets. A collection of Bweet peas exhibited by Mr J. H. Patrick contained over 70 varieties. In pot plants the entries wer» more numerous, and the quality superior to that of former years. This class was on- ! hanced by a collection of pot plants whioh Mr J. Gray, of Milton, staged for exhibition only. Mr W. Moore, of Milton, had a nice collection of out flowers, both for exhibition only. Mr J. J. Woods, of Lawrence, acted as judge, and his decisions gave the greatest satisfaction.
