(Received Jan. 2, at 10.44 a.m.) The pension scheme prepared by the Committee of the National Conference of the great friendly societies proposes that 5s a week be paid from the Imperial Treasury to those who have attained the ago of 65 years, subject to numerous conditions. The scheme proposes that the rural and urban bodies, together with the municipal councils, be the pension authorities. Mr J. O'Donnell, a Nationalist member of the House of Commons, who was convicted of intimidation, has had his sentence reduced by one-third, without hard labour. ■ The mutilated .'bodies of Darby (a grocer at Camberwell), his wife, and infant have been unearthed in a garden at Leyton. Darby's furniture and tho same premises were occupied by Edgar Edwards, a grocer, who has been arrested and remanded for the Leyton murders. He bought Darby's business. Chapman, charged with the murder of his barmaid (Maud Marsh), is a Pole, His real name is Severino Klosofpki. He 19 also charged with poisoning two women with whom he cohabited successively as his wives.. The British quarterly revenue was £36,172,831, of which Customs contributed £9,759,970, excise, £11,377,000, and stamps £2,130,000.
