CITY LICENSING COMMITTEE

The quarterly meeting of the City Licensing 'Committee was held at A-he City Police Court yesterday «t noon; present—Mr C. C. Graham (chairman), 'Messrs C. R. Chapman, S. S. Myers, A. Judge, and the Hon. H. Gourley. Transfers The Chairman stated that with reference to the Salutation Hotel tho police report- was favourable. The report as to the Pier Hotel was that the house was now much more satisfactorily conducted than at the last meeting. There were no objections in the case of the Scotia- Hotel. Tho following transfers were granted:—Salutation Hotel (Mr James), W. K. Ccoksley lo Michael Quaßer; Pier Hotel (Mr Hanlon), Margaret Parker to Michael O'Halloran; "Scotia Hotel (Mr Callari'), Michael O'Halloran to Annio Edwards. RENEWALS. The Chairman stated that in regard to renewals there were a. number of licenses held over froir- the annual meeting *o us to permit the licensees to make certain alterations and repairs as required by the police. Tho police now reported that they were satisfied that what they asked for bed been dona, and tlie licenses would therefore be granted. ■The following renewals were granted:—Australasian Hotel, F. Buchanan (Mr James); Farmers' Arms, James Knox (Mr Hanlon); Otago Hotel , John Laffey (Mr Stilling);- Gridiron Hotel, Charles Niener (Mr Stilling): Duke of. Edinburgh Hotel, Margaret Crossan (Mr O'Shea); Prince of Wales Hotel, Dugald M'Ltod (Mr O'Siiea). .A "further application was mftde by Mr O'Shea for a transfer from Margaret. Crossan to Daniel White in the case of the Duke of Edinburgh HoU'I, which w»3 granted.
