PRESENTATIONS.

On Saturday the staff of Messrs Neill and Co. (Limited) presented Mr Wm. M. Maclean, j who is severing his connection with the firm and going on an extended trip to the Old Country, with a gold watch chain. Mr Rankin made the presentation, and in doing so referred in eulogistic terms to Mr Maclean's many good qualities. * Mr Maclean suitably responded. Amongst those about to try their luck in South Africa is Mr T. D. Livingstone, of Messrs < Reid and Gray's clerical staff. On Saturday morning Mr W. Dawe, .on behalf of employees and friends, presented Mr Livingstone with a purse 1 of sovereigns. The purse was suitably engraved on a silver plate. In presenting it Mr Dawe wished him every success and prosperity in his future career, and hoped that good luck would go with him. Mr Livingstone briefly and feelingly responded, and the gathering terminated. ■ A deputation of ratepayers in the Catlms River Riding of the Clutlia County waited on Cr A. Saunders, of the Clutha County Council, last week and presented him with a purse in recognition of his services during the past term, and especially in regard to " thirds" and " fourths." Cr Saundc-rs was also presented with a request signed by 120 ratepayers that ho , should consent to nomination for re-election as : member for the riding.
