MILTON FANCIERS' SHOW.

The Brace Poultry and Dor Trial Show (eleventh annual fixture),' which opened yesterday, is a long way ahead as regards both quality and numbers of exhibits of anything which has previously been seen' in tlio district, and the Committeo of Management, which includes the names of several earnest fanciers—viz., Messrs V. Forsyth. H. M. Driver, J. Taylor, 11. A. Pyke, D. Allison, Joseph Bremncr, J. M'Leod, A. Campbell, J. Burns, ,1. Stewart, J. Kennard, sen., J. Grey, 11. Finch. 0. Fisher, G. Grahami 0. J. P'orrett, and l)r Mcnzies—deserve every credit for the excellent arrangement oE everything, appertaining to the show, not the least item being their selection as judge of Mr IT. Double, of Invercargill, celebrated throughout. the South Island for hi 3 fairness and impartiality and as a keen fancicr, possessing a wide knowledge of birds generally. As far a3 our reporter could ascertain Mr Double thoroughly maintained his reputation by his judgments yesterday. The entries in the poultry ceetion this year exceed bv 50 those of last year, and, in the opinion of the judge, tho quality all round is much above the average. The Buff OipiYigtons were, lie acknowledges, a surprise to him in all classef—indeed, he nojiaidc-rs they were tho main feature of ilm show. The first prize cockerel in this ciass _ was a particularly good specimen, fit to win at any show, and the Black Orpington cockerel which tonic a special was also a really good bird. The Brown Legliorus

were uniformly of good colour, and tlie • %amottes, both gold and „ilver, were of excellent show quality. Houdans, on account of the competition for 'tliq aoulh Island Association trophy, formed, a.4 cipected, an unusually attractive class as regarded quality for Milton, and though the entries wore few the selection for cards •\ 8 ? i? 10 , atrivo at - W, Forsyth judged the dogs, which were very few in lium tflr. As the dog trial extended over O days, the results will not bo published till to-morrow. M,- (;. W eldon, who acts • a 5 » ol| or«;T secretary, proves himself once bX°c i f 3' 1 '?
