PROPOSED ADDITIONAL SUBSIDY. (Fr.osi Oun Owx Correspoxdext.) WELLINGTON", July 29. If Parliament agrees, the Government will make. a grant of £1500 to the Otago University Co'lego on condition that the people of tho district subscribe £750. Mr J. A. Millar, interviewed on tho subject the University finances, said: I.ain certainly of opinion thai slops should ha tnlcon to ascertain the Iruo financial position of the University, and if found necessary placo it on such a basis as to enable tjic Medical and Mining Schools to afford their students tho best"education possible, and for this purpose a commission should bo set up so as to ascertain what assistance (if any) is required from the Government to attain this objcct.
