Company at the second Rimual general meeting: — In presenting to you the second annual report and balancc sheet, vour directors need only remind the shareholders of the endeavour to ariimgo an amalgamation with the Major Robin and Duko of Wellington Companies for the purpose of having the dredge in course of construction for the Dnltr of Wellington Com- ■ pany to test the three claims. As the shareholders know, this proposal was rejected by this company, and the directors requested to await the results of the adjacent dredges before going on with a dredge to work this company's claim. Tho shareholders will have the opportunity at the meeting to express their opinion as to what shall now be done in the interests of tho company. Messrs 11. Crust and A. Crow are tho retiring directors, and, being eligible, oSsr themselves for re-election. Mr M. H. Scott retires as auditor, and offers himself for re v.cction. At tho beginning of tho year the profit and loss account showed a debit balance of £160 15s lOd, siuco which time £67 Sa lOd has been expended, making a total of £548 4s 8d; but against this £12 18s 4d was received in interest, leaving a debit balante of £535 6s 4d to be carried forward. The unpaid calls amount to £257 15s, and there are surdry creditors to the extent of £23 13s lOd, while there is £351 12s 6d in the bank. t ■ NOTICT TO CORRESPONDENT. "Shareholder Golden River C'ompany."Upon making inquiries we are informed by ihe secretary that when tho dredge was closcd down for the summer months the dredgemaster (Mr Taylor) was offered tho position of caretaker at a salary of £3 per week, his duties including supervising and assisting to form a, road ioi conveying the coal to the d-edge. This position ho refused to accept, and another caretaker was appointed. With reference to the alleged letter to the dredgemaster the secretary has no knowledge of the matter referred to.
