GUNTON'S BEACH AMALGAMATED GOLD DREDGING COMPANY.

An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in the G union's Beach Amalgamated G.D. Company was held last evening for tho purpose of considering the advisability oi going into voluntary liquidation. There were 15 shareholders present, and Mr J. P. Lane presided. The Chairman moved the following resolution: —" That- it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company canby reason of its liabilities, continue its business, aud that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up ; voluntarily." The .motion was seconded by Mr W. M'Farlane and carried. i the Chairman, seconded by Mr Palmer, Mr S. T. Mirams was appointed liquidator; and on the motion of Mv H. White seconded by Mr J. M'Farlane, his remuneration was fixed at 30 guineas. In reply to a question as to what the principal cause of the company going into liquidation, Chairman stated that the directors had tried very hard to pull (lie comuany through, but were unable to do so. Messrs Knewstubb Bros,, tho contractors lor the construction of the pontoons, had met them very fairly,_ but Mr Roberts had practically forced them into liquidation by refusing to meet them in tho matter of commission. They had paid the engineer £100. In reply to further questions, the Chairman stated that there was about £140 in hand. The only asset they had was the dredge, which was mortgaged to Messrs Knewstubb Bros. This concluded the business, and" the meeting dispersed.
