QUARTERLY REVENUE RETURNS.

(Per United Press Assooiation.) WELLINGTON, July 24. To-night's Gazette contains a statement of the receipts ami expenditure of the Consolidated Fund for the quarter ended June 30. The receipts brought to •the credit of the ordinary revenue account total £1,622,018, which, ineludl'.ig the balance at tho beginning o[ the quarter (£853,025), is £134,793 leas tlinn for the June quarter last year. The receipts from Customs were £470,300; stamps, £145,010; railways, £446,39). During the quarter the annual appropriations absorbed £939,927. Of this, £823,290 was for interest uud sinking fund, and. £32,615 for old-age pensions. The annual appropriations amounted to £682,091, the principal items being £25,193 for railways, £129,118 for education, and £50,000 for defence.
