It is expected to prove tlie finest boat of its class afloat. THE TYPE OF BOILER. (Received July 11, at 9.5 a.m.) The Admiralty Committeo appointed to inquire* into the question of naval boilers have reported altogether ad- ■ versely to the Belleville and favourably to the Babcock-Willcox tyne, but as yet are unable to recommend a standard boiler. They consider that the watertube boiler is less economical than the cylindrical boiler, and until a satisfactory type of water-tube boiler is forthcoming ' they recommend for large cruisers.and battleships the cylindrical. Sufficient power to work the auxiliary machinery • and to maintain ordinary cruising speed ought to bo 2001b to the square inch both for water-tube aud cylindrical. This would economise coal and increase the radius of action.
