PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Portobello Read Beard, held on Saturday, v/as attended by Messrs TV. Dickson (chairman), ilnoandrew, Hinkley, North, Bacon, and Seaton. Mr Nordgren ashed the board to supply him with some stono tor a culvert which was damaged by the late flood, nnd .which leads to his dwelling, lie would do tha work himself. Granted. The inspector, reported on the complaint in connection with the pollution ot a creek at Portobello, nnd stilted that the water'was quite clear He therefore Eaw no cause for the complaint It was, resolved that, in the face ot the report, tho board could not interfere.—Mr Meac wrote asking leave to remove come rotten loci at the road at Wavcrlcy. Declined.—Mr Adair Francis wroto asking'for metal for Mh walk Matter, to stand over till next' meeting.—Witl: reterencc to the proposed now road througl Mrs Wilson's property to the Camp road, a; there wcro several preliminary matters to bs attended to, it was loft in the hands of Mc3sti Hinkly and Bacon, who'will report at tho nexi meeting.—Mr A. B. Johnston. (Vsuxhall) wroti asking that metal be spread on the road lending to his. property.—The inspector to meat M Johnston on the 'ground,-rind report at licx meeting. Tho inspector reported~that, in con sequence ot tho tains lately, alt the trad; in Hoopcr'3 Inlet and Wicklifl Bay and th< Main Lower road from Portobello to S. Grill'i and Arthur's Sow road'were.blocked by slips and in the North-East Harbour sub'divisioi two culverts ■ 011 Rodger's-and Milne's roa< were carried away.. He. estimated the damage at .£'loQ.,' Ten extra men had been employed t< assist in clearing and mending tho roads, am it would take them some considerable time ti finish.—lt was resolved that a rate.of Jd ii the pound would be levied on all rateable pro pcrty in the district, to bo payable in one sun on August 1 next.
