MR BURTON'S READINGS.
Mr Alfred H. Burton's second " rending" was given in the Choral Hall before a large and appreciative' auditnea last evening. The speaker was listened to throughout with interest,'and ho was frequently applauded npon lib bringing out various points in the subject matter of the reading. Tho selections won from Thonvis de Quincey's " Confessions of at English Opium-eater," J. G. Whiitier'f "Female Mnrfyr," and Marl; Twain's inimi r cibio " Innocents Abroad." Mr Burton en tered thoroughly iut-o the spirit of the variou: selections, and his (iudienco could not biv havo a clearer insight into the author's mean ing after listening to Mr Burton's eloeutionar effort.
