WELLINGTON NEWS NOTES.
(From Oiju Own Corkesi'o.ndent.) WELLINGTON, January 4. A novel suggestion to increaso tho ruinous prices of crossbred wools has been made by a Wellington merchant. It i 3 to the effect that tho Right Hon. R. J. Seddon should enter into communication with Mr Chamberlain with a view to influencing the latter to prevail upon his Majesty fno King a'nd his Consort to set tho fa«hion of wearing tho ooar°er tweeds. By this moans a reversion tD tho favour of crossbred wools would tako place, and immense relief would bo afforded to a largo Ecction of patriotic colonists to whom tho present dress vogue is spoiling rum. Tender forms for army meat contract nave just been received by the Premier, aril can bo seen at his office. Tenders will close on tho 6th inst., and it is suggested that intending contractors here may, aftor noting tho conditions of the contract, be able to cable to their London agents, who could put in tenders in timo.
