QUEEN'S STATUE MEMORIAL COMMITTEE.
£3000 REQUIRED. A meeting of the Queen's Statue Memorial Committee was held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon; present—His Worship the Mayor (Mr R. Chisholm, in the chair), the Hon. T. Fergus, Messrs C. S. Reeves, A. Burt, W. B. Vigers, J. C. Thomson, E. Melland, A. Batheate, G. Joachim, N. 11. 8011, and K. Ramsay. Apologies were received from Or Dawson, Messrs R. Glendining, A. S. Paterson, F. Pctre, and Lieu-tenant-colonel Smith The Chairman reported that the following gentlemen had been added to the com-mittee:—Lieutenant-colonel Smith, Messrs W. B. Vigers, J. C. Tiiomson, E. Melland, D. E. Thcomin, J. >' M. Ritchio, T. W. Kempthorne. H. •V. Fulton, A. Hurt. F. Pelre, G. Roberts, A. Sligo, and John Hoid. It was resolved that Mr R. T. Wheeler be appointed honorary secretary, and Mr R. Glendining honorary treasurer. The nppointment of chairman was postponed until next meeting. An executive committee was appointed, consisting of the office-hearers and Messrs Bathcrate. Fergus, Joachim, anil Ramsay; Mr Batligatc to he chairman and convener. In the course of a discussion, the opinion was expressed that the amount to' be raised should not be less than £3000.
