SLY GROG-SELLING IN CLUTHA.
FINED £35 AND COSTS. (Fiwji Oun Own Coitr.ESi'ONDF.NT.) GORE, January 16. Annie Walsh, proprietor of the late Pukersui Hotel, was charged to-day before Mr Stratford, S.M., with selling two glasses of beer on January 3. The police raided, the'place on the 9th and found half a bottle of whiskv, eight bottles of hock, a bottle of claret," and an empty beer cask. . The defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined £35 and costs (7s), in default 21 days' imprisonment. A month was allowed 'to pay the fine. Pukenui was included in Clutha electorate after the last census.
