ALHAMBRA THEATRE.

A large audience assembled at the Alhambra Theatre on Saturday, when Dixs Gaiety Company gave another of their popular entertainments. The programme, although containing many new items, was similar in character to those previously presented by the company. It nevertheless appeared to be greatly enjoyed by a!i present. Encores were frequently demanded during the evening, and they were freely responded to. Mr Frank Yorke, as usual, was in great request, and the audience never seemed to tire of listening to him. Little Eileen Boyd's ballad singing was received with the utmost cordiality, and every time she appeared she had to submit to a recall. The Devella Sisters greatly pleased those present by their serio-comic singing and dancing, while those clever and versatile musical comedians, the Leslie Brothers, created no end of amusement. A beautifully played cornet solo, " The last rose of summer," by "one of them elicited enthusiastic calls for " KiHarney," which was also executed in a manner that appealed strongly to the audience. To-uioht the company give another entertainment, and the Wingate Sisters, two trapeze artists, who arc said to be very clever performers, will make their first appearance, as also will Miss Mareni, a triple-bar performer of some repute. '

Mr Alec. Anderson, who for some time past has been manager of Dixs Gaiety Company, has accepted an engagement to pilot the Flying Jordans through India, and leaves for Australia by the next boat.
