General Knox drove Do WJet and 3000 Boers to the f lnibajichu-Ladybrand line, which the British held.
The Boers, assisted by a force operating from the north, desperately attacked the British, but the enemy lust considerably while breaking through. Portions of the Boers are still unable to puss (lie British. One 15-poimdei was captured at Dowels-
dorp and one pompom with several waggons of ammunition. Twenty-two prisoners were taken.

PLACE INVALIDED. ADELAIDE, December 16. (Received Doc. 17, at 1.8 a.m.) Twenty-two soldiers, invalided on furlough, have returned to South Africa. Volunteers are offering to take the pHcws of any others who are not sufficiently iecovered to return.
