AN IMPORTANT DECISION.

(Received August 10, at 9.20 a.m.) The Full Court, in a test case, decided that the system in force at the collieries of paying for the large and allowing a certain percentage for the small coal hewn was in-valid, and ruled that the miners must ■be paid for the actual weight of all coal. ' . ARBITRATION BILL. In the Legislative Assembly Mr Reid criticised the Industrial Arbitration Bill, and condemned its compulsory provisions and its disregard for the claims of nonunionists to consideration. The intention of the bill was good, but it was ill-drawn, defective, and an arbitrary attempt to bring into play the great powers of the State too hurriedly and inconsiderately.
