CANTERBURY JUBILEE EXHIBITION.

(Per United Press Association1.) CHRISTGHURCH, August 9. At a meeting of the Jubilee Commemoi'ation General Committee, six schemes for a jubilee memorial were submitted by the Special Committee, and it was decided to adopt the ideas embodied in the three schemes comprising the erection of a group or obelisk in the city commemorative of our pioneers, the industries, and the New Zeala-iiders who have fallen in South Africa as well as the sending forth of contingents. The committee decided that old colonists should be defined as all persons who arrived in the Canterbury settlement on or before March 15, 1853.
