Press .Association-By Telegraph-Copyright. BERLIN, August 8. (Received August 9, at 9.15 a.m.) Hew Liebknecht, the great German Socialist leader, and editor of the newspaper Vorwarts is dead; aged seventy-four years.

[Herr Liebknecht, German Socialist, was born at Giessen, 29fch March, 1826. He was edu cated at Giessen and Berlin, and early showed his Socialistic learnings. Charged with participating in the Polish revolutionary movement he was expelled from Austria in 1846, and' joining the Swiss army, he fought through the 18i8 revolution in Paris, and then returned to Germany. Here he -worked as ■ journalist, schoolmaster, and lecturer. After suffering imprisonment he was exiled, and resided in 'England from 1850 to 1862. In ISG7 he was electee! for Schneeberg-Stolberg, in Saxony, and has since also sat for O/Tenbach-on-Maine and Berlin. He was the editor of Vorwarts, the leading Socialist daily in Germany, and was an admirable speaker, both in the Reichstag and at public meetings. In November, 1895, he was sentenced to foin months' imprisonment for Jeue majeste.]
