THE CHRISTCHURCH CHAMPIONSHIP.

CI-miSTCHURCH, July 28. Ihere was great excitement over the final match for the championship, Christehurch v. Sydenham, to-day. There was a very large attendance. The match resulted in a .win for Ohristehurch by 11 points to 6. Christehurch scored a penalty goal, a try, and a goal from a try. Sydenham scored two tries. The game was fast throughout. In the first spell the Ch'ristchurcji forwards temporarily collapsed, and Sydenham registered 6 points, but in the second spell Christehurch played with great dash, and broke down the. Sydenham defence. Christehurch were beaten in the play off last year.

A committee meeting of the Otacjo Football Association, held at Mr Myers's rooms, Octagon, on Saturday evening, was attended by Messrs J. Wilson (vice-president, in the chair); G. M'Millan. T. Ashton, T. 'Scoular, A. Sligo. jnn., T. Hiddlestori, and (lie secretary. Mr J. Naprle w.is appointed lion, secretary in place of Mr 0, H:'Stables. A letter -was received from t!ie Wellington Association suggesting that the Otago team on their way to the tournament at Auckland should play an exhibition game at Wellington with the Wellington team. It was decided to fall in with the proposal provided suitable .arrangements can be made. With regard to the five-aside tournament to be

held on 'the 11th and 18th August, Messrs .T. Wilson, T. Scoular, A. Sligo. jun.. and the secretary were appointed a subcommittee to make all necessary arrangements. It was decided to donate the proceeds of the final for the Chanty Banner to the Patients' and Prisoners' "Aid Society. Another trial match will be held next Saturday at Wakari Park.
