At a meeting of the Canterbury' Industrial Association a motion ■was passed protesting against clause 39 of the Factories Act Amendment Bill, providing that all engines exceeding five horse-power be driven only by certificated engineers. The Industrial Corporation was asked to at once bring the protest before the Labour Bills Committee,
