The blacks who killed the Mawbeys have murdered an old man named Fitzpatrick, near Wollar. (Received July 27, at 0.30 a.m.) Fitzpatrick's nephew was absent from the house for a few minutes. When he returned he found his uncle shot in the back and his head split. Two blacks were j;een fleeing; He fired at, but missed, them.

The police magistrate reports that the murderers have escaped to the mountains, and that it is impossible to follow on horseback. He advises that bloodhounds be employed to track them down.
