DUNEDIN PRE-BYTERY.
•-. The "ordinary meeting of the Dunedin Pres-: "" T'ytei-y' was held in First Church -Hall yesterday afternoon; present—the Moderator (the Bey. I. K. M'lntyre), Revs. A. Cameron, ;J. Christie, J. Gibb, J. M. M'Kerrow, D. Dutton, A. Don, T. Paulin, E.-0. Tennent, W. ■Hewitson, and W. Scorgie (miinisters), Messrs , yD. Thomsou, J. Waugh. W. Couston, A. Fleming, W. Hutton, W. Thomson, W. Grant, and G. Edmistoh (eldersj. - A'letter was received from the Rev. Mr .Borne-referring. -to Mr Waters's work in Otago, and suggesting that a mission charge should be established iii the neighbourhood of Mr Waters's mission work. , Meantime, Mr Waters had returned to continue the work for a time.—Letter, "received. .The report of the'reappointment of Mr .Neilson Tennent ,to accompany the fourth .contingent was submitted by the moderator. .The matter was discussed at some length; and resolutions adopted thereon, a report of which wrl? .be: found elsewhere. At the conclusion •■or the first question affecting the sending of ' ; Mr Tennent. it was moved by the Rev. Mr Ctutierpn, aiid seconded by the Rely. Mr Gihh p-".That the presbytery recommend the Council of the Churches to arrange for a great united religious service, oh the morning of the "departure '2'. t'!!® contingent, and also to arrange fora tiaily prayer meeting during the currency of the war."—Carried unanimously.—The committee also suggested that a social meeting be ■ field for the members of the contingent, aiid it was resolved to approve of the suggestion, and to remit it to the committee to carry out. The Rev. Mr Hewitson's name was added to the committee. ■ At the'request of the Rev. Mr Dutton, it was resolved to_ appoint a committee to wait and ■■report.upon the conditions-of the manse at Caversham. -The^Presbytery then went into committee to consider Mr Hall's.trial discourses, and remained in committee ovor an hour. On resuming a motion was adopted sustaining the discourses, and Mr Hall's ordination was fixed for the 20th inst., the moderator to preside, ..he Rev. Mr Borrie to address the Minister ; and the. Rev. Mr M'Kerrow the congregation: ..,,-Uie pe^t meeting of the presbytery was fixed »p.be;held on Tuesday, 10th April, arid the sederunt closed at 2.30 p.m.
