OTAGO ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE. The Otago Cricket. Association Committee met yesterday afternoon, there being present —Messrs L. Gooeh (chairman), C. It. Smith, W. Maclean, G. Restieaux, F. 11. Campbell, D. Thomson, C. Rattray, and F. Liggins. A letter was rend from Mr it. F. Ward (Union [ Steam Ship Company), who had voUmtcerc.l i for service in the Transvaal, asking- that Hie i horso donated to the contingent might bo ! placed at his disposal.—Mr Smith explained I that the horse had been given to the Contingent Committee unconditionally, but if it was consonant with thoir wishes the writer could have the horse. He had written to this I effect to the committee on Uis own rosponsi- | bilily, not being able to come across any of | the members of the association.—Mr Douglas M. Corson also wrote asking for the horse.— Mr Maclean mentioned that Mr Corsou had called on him. He was not a cricketer, like Mr Ward.—Mr Smith's action in the matter I was confirmed.—Mi Smith stated that the j Southland team had replied to a communicai tion on the subject of the Southland match, | that they were agreeable to fix the dates of I play for the 21st and ?.2nd inst., and that they I would arrive by next. Tuesday night's express. I —It was decided to inakn a, charge of sixpence for admission to the match, with no extra charge for the grand stand.—A sub-committee : consisting of Messrs Gooch, Thomson, and i Liggins were appointed to make necessary ar- ! rangements as to the play and reception and \ treatment of. the visitors.—The Contingent j Committee wrote expressing their thanks for the horse donated.—The Port. Chalmers Cricket Club sent a, communication that they would be unable, to fulfil any more engagements this season.
