DURBAN, January 26.

Heavy firing was heard -from the Ladysmith direction on Monday. General White is supposed to bo making a diversion in order, to assist the relief columns.

The health of the garrison in Lady smith

is improving. The Boers are pressing the siege of Ladysmith with greater determination. They are erecting more guns and strengthening their fortifications.
