'J he stsamer tonnage increased 107,362, and ' that of sailers decreased 11,924. The profit on working the wharves was £6097, being a decrease of £2732, owing to extra writing off for depreciation. The balance of assets over liabilities is £175,150. In three years the board will have to find £6000 per annum by way of interest on new loans for harbour improvements hi hand or contemplated.

CHRISTCHURCH, January 26. The weather for the past, fortnight has been unsettled, and the harvest has been : considerably interrupted, and during the last few days entirely suspended. Reaping was resumed to-day. The condition of* the crops is very satisfactory, wheat and barley promising over an average yield and oats up to the average.
